4. If the client acts in way that you consider to be unprofessional demand that he stops. If he does not then leave and call me or the police as appropriate.

5. Take a chaperone with you if you have any doubts about your safety. If a client refuses to allow a chaperone you should certainly report this to me.

6. Do not let a client talk you into something that you don't want to do. If you need moral support to back you up use your chaperone or call me or a friend.

A useful independent website relating to issues of safety when modelling is
BESAFE - this is run by a model so it gives that perspective.

Other issues
Do not sign any model release forms when on a job for this agency. We decide your rates on the basis of what usage the customer requires for the work. He will then sign an agreement formalising this. So if you then sign a release form giving him total freedom to use the photographs, you have just undersold yourself. Simple as that. Call me if you need advice.

Part of the process of becoming a model is to build a portfolio. Once you have a good starting one, I can promote you more effectively because people will see you at your best in a variety of photographs. An initial portfolio needs at least 8 or so good pictures including close-up face shots and full length body shots. I am not expecting you to get your portfolio done at my studio - indeed there are advantages to be gained by using several photographers to provide a varied portfolio - but I am offering my services to you. Getting a portfolio done may not be cheap - you can expect to pay up to around R2000 for a good one, but this can be offset by doing 'work for prints', either for me or another photographer. I can give you advice and suggested photographers for this.

Many models are quite young so it is worth clarifying the issues with respect to age. You need to be 18 or over to sign any contract, so if you are under this age your parent or guardian must sign for you. For the agency contract I will probably ask for proof of age if this is appropriate so be prepared for this. It should also be noted at this point that it is illegal to take an 'indecent' photograph of a child (i.e. under 16) and that the definition of 'indecent' is in the hands of the Courts so beware.

Agency Terms and Conditions - to which both client and model are subject when an assignment is booked by this agency.

JOINING THE AGENCY
1. Up-front Agency Fee
No fee is charged to the model for joining the agency. Portfolios can be obtained from any reasonable source. Help and advice is provided without charge.

2. Exclusivity
Models are not normally permitted to be represented by any other online model agency.

BOOKING A MODEL
3. Enquiries
Initial enquiries from potential clients should be made using the online form provided. All sections should be filled in. This will ensure that your details are available to the agency. The booking is then made by email or telephone after consultation with the model.

4. Confirmation
A confirmation form containing the terms of the booking must be signed by the client prior to the job. This will contain the date, time and location of the assignment, the agreed fee and the person responsible for payment, the type of work to be undertaken, any special requirements, and the agreed usage of the planned images.

5. Responsibility
Models are responsible for ensuring that they understand the terms of the booking, including time, date and location of the assignment, the type of work to be undertaken and items to be brought to the assignment, before the assignment takes place.

BOOKING FEES

6. Agreed Usage
In general, booking fees cover the right to use images produced during the assignment only for the initial agreed usage.

8. Overtime Rates
Overtime rates usually apply before 9am, after 6pm and at weekends (usually one-and-a-half times the normal rate).

9. Travel

10a. Usage
